How NRL Hunter works

A field match, inspired by hunting.

NRL Hunter combines steel targets at unknown distances with natural shooting positions. Every stage has three parts.

Find the steel targets described in the stage briefing.

Range
Measure each target’s distance—it isn’t provided.

Engage
Shoot the target sequence from designated positions within the time limit.

A one-day match: a smaller time commitment for your first event.

A two-day match for a full weekend in the field.

What to expect

A simple, predictable format.

Games matches usually have 8–12 stages; two-day Hunter matches have 16–20. Each stage uses one of the layouts below.

Time: Four minutes for individuals; six for teams. Gear starts stowed until the clock begins.
Targets & positions: The briefing identifies the targets, shooting positions, and target order. Distances are typically 200–1,000 yards.
Finding the array: A placard marks the first target; boundary pins show the search area.
Scoring: Two attempts per target: two points for a first-shot hit, one for a second-shot hit. Up to eight points per stage.
